Temple Beth Emeth v'Ohr Progressive Shaari Zedek, celebrating its centennial year, is dedicated to Judaism as a living and growing faith, and provides its members with a strong sense of Jewish identity. We invite all Jewish and interfaith families to become part of our warm and caring congregational family, and we encourage your participation through religious services, affiliated organizations, educational programs, special events and lifecycle ceremonies.
As a community, we continue to pray for the complete and full recovery of our beloved Rabbi Emeritus, William Kloner.
Zecher Tzadik Livracha:The entire community of Temple Beth Emeth mourns the passing of Cantor Emeritus Eugene Green, a vital member of the Temple family for many years. May his family and friends be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Rabbi's Message
At Temple Beth Emeth v'Ohr Progressive Shaari Zedek, we come together to pray, to celebrate, to socialize, and to support one another in a friendly, informal environment. We learn together, laugh together, and L'Chaim together. We are open and eager to welcome newcomers. It might take you longer to learn the full name of our synagogue than it will to begin feeling at home here.
Now at the start of our second century as a spiritual home for Reform Jews in Flatbush, Brooklyn, we are the only Reform synagogue between Prospect Park and the Atlantic Ocean. We are proud of our history, and committed to maintaining and growing our dynamic community through our dedication to education of both children and adults, meaningful worship, and joyful engagement with Jewish tradition.
I am available to you to discuss anything from the planning of life-cycle events to questions about our synagogue to struggles you may have with our faith or our tradition. I'm glad you visited our web site. I hope to have the opportunity to meet you in person soon.
Rabbi Heidi Hoover
Our Synagogue
Our turn-of-the-century synagogue is located in Prospect Park South, a landmark district of victorian homes listed in the National register of Historical Places. Temple Beth Emeth Progressive Shaari Zedek was established in 1911 by Hannah Hirsch and 35 families concerned with educating children in reform Judaism.
Worshippers pray in a "jewel box" sanctuary with a sculptured bronze ark, oak pews, magnificent Torahs, and majestic stained glass windows. The air-conditioned sanctuary is fully accessible to all. Other features include classrooms, offices, an endowed library and a full service banquet hall that is available to members to celebrate important Simchas -- it is also available for social and community functions.
